Failure mode of a hydroformed membrane after fatigue testing. The membrane was hydroformed with 16 bar. The fatigue crack is initiated in the dome wall, a region that possesses lower strain hardening from the forming process compared to the dome pole. An indentation zone is visible, proving non-axisymmetric behavior of the membrane.
